SSIA Welcomes Six New Board Members
Successful Schools in Action is pleased to introduce our newest board members - and we're very much looking forward to the expertise and energy they'll bring to our organization!

Virginia Anderson, Community Representative
Virginia has a long history of public service in Seattle. She was the Director of Seattle Center for 18 years, and most recently was President of Safeco Insurance Foundation. Virginia's daughter, Maile, is in 8th grade at McClure Middle School.

Kim Clements, Community Representative
Kim and her husband Joe own JAS Design Build, a firm they founded 18 years ago. Kim is always involved in good works, from the foundation she and Joe started to help rebuild New Orleans, to serving as the John Hay Auction Chair. Kim has three sons who all attend John Hay.

Anson Fatland, Lawton Representative
Anson Fatland is a Senior Program Officer at the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation where he manages the Science & Technology and Education grantmaking programs. Anson and his wife Kelsey have two children, son Connor age 7, and daughter Linden, age 4. Connor attends Lawton Elementary and Linden goes to Discovery Montessori in Magnolia.

Melinda Gause, Treasurer
Melinda has been an active community member for many years, including President of the Coe PTA and President of the Little League Board. She and her husband have two sons, both of whom attended Coe. Melinda has recently been studying accounting while working in the accounting department of an umbrella non-profit.

Steve Havas, Community Representative
Steve has spent two decades driving improved organizational effectiveness in some of America's leading companies including Starbucks and Bank of America. His daughter Tess attended TOPS, where he was Treasurer of the Site Council.

Beverly Raines, Lawton Elementary Principal
Beverly is the new Principal at Lawton Elementary. She has worked for the Seattle School District for more than 30 years in many capacities, most recently as Principal of Brighton Elementary - but Beverly's very first job was at McClure!

Star Roberts, Center School Representative
Star is a longtime Queen Anne resident. She and her husband John Gish have two children: Riley, who is a sophomore at the Center School, and Zyan who attends Morningside Academy. Star has always been involved in her kids' schools, including as the Parent Coordinator at Riley's middle school.
